Your performance in this course will be evaluated on the basis of the following:
Mid-term Exam (30%)
The exam will be comprised of multiple choice questions, approximately 40-50 of them. Students should be familiar with the material covered in the first half of the course, especially questions regarding test bank samples.
Final-term Report (30%)
Final-term report includes written report and oral presentation. Before submitting your written report, please refer to the checklist for effective reports to ensure the submission guidelines are met.
Paper Presentation (15%)
Supplemental articles and optional readings will be distributed in class. Each student should be responsible for a PowerPoint presentation of an assigned academic article (up to 30 minutes).
Homework, Software and Computer Work (10%)
There will be 2 assignments. These will serve to reinforce and complement concepts learned in class. All the homework projects will require you to perform statistical analysis using statistical software, such as Microsoft Excel®, Matlab®, and Eviews®.
Your assignments will be graded based upon both your efforts and the quality of the answers. You are allowed to work in groups, but not to copy other students’ homework.
Assignments are to be completed in an individual. Assignments are due at the beginning of the class on the due dates. Late assignments will not be accepted. No credit will be given after due day. Please upload your homework on BlackBoard https://bb.ntub.edu.tw
Class Participation & Reflection Report (15%)
Each student should write a reflection report from participating in the activities. The report contents should include reflection and suggestions , at least 500 words.
Attendance in class is required and expected. Missing a class is at your own risk and responsibility. If you cannot attend class, please inform the class ahead of time. Keep in mind that, in any case, I cold call in just about every class. You will lose 1 point (out of 5) of Class Participation each time for the first 3 cases of absence. If you have more than 3 cases of absences, you will lose the entire 5 points.
Please do not chat with your neighbor on things unrelated to the course or leave the classroom in the middle of the class because these behaviors distract me and other students.
